Significance Of West Virginia Drug Testing

By Sharron Cantu

There are some states that do not see the need to stop an addiction that has become rampant among its people especially the youth. The necessity of West Virginia drug testing is not seen as mandatory. There is no law that has been put in place to make it a must for the residents.

A drug is a substance that people take to cure a sickness or relieve pain and is usually prescribed by a practicing doctor, but there are other types of drugs that are mostly self prescribed that are not for relieving pain but for pleasure or ecstasy and this mostly affect the nervous system. The continuous use of this kind of drugs makes one an addict of that substance.

It is not uncommon in the states for a company to want its workers checked before being employed. But not in places like West Virginia. The employers ask their workers to be tested so that they can have a healthy workforce for better results in their companies. They are done on employment and then they are repeated after sometime like every six or so months.

Some people feel that making them take the test is some sort of punishment, they do not understand that it is for their well being, to make them stay clean and healthy. The effect of the workers who do drugs on a company are so many like, they slow down productivity, some become rude and even violent and they do not listen to their superiors. They do as they feel and that affects how the work is done in a company.

While some employers have it as mandatory, some view it as a waste of time and money, not caring whether their workers are affected or not, as long as they work and if you do not work well according to what they want you get the sack. The health of the worker is not their problem. They feel it has no effectiveness at all, to the real drug addiction problem.

In some workplaces, they even have training programs where they educate their workers on the dangers of drugs and the benefits of the tests, making them understand that it is for their own good and for the betterment of their health in general.

We can therefore see that the benefits of drug testing are immense. When a community is educated on that, we can have a drug free state. Children grow up knowing that drugs that are not given by a doctor are not good and it could make them unhealthy people in the society. It breeds a retardant society which is of no good at all, putting their heath in danger.

It is not a bad idea making it a must for people to be tested. They can even do it to older school children as some of them get the addiction from their parents or siblings. Some get it from their peers when they sometimes want to fit in.
