Dr. Albert T. W. Simeons, often called Dr. A. T. W. Simeons is the pioneering founder of the world renowned 'hCG diet'. This diet is often used to treat obesity.
He was born and raised in London, and studied medicine at the Universityof Heidelberg. After completing his general medical degree,he further studied in Germany and Switzerland for his post graduate diploma. He eventually went into tropical medicine after working in various areas of medicine. To fulfill his dream of specializing in Tropical Medicine, he enrolled in the school of Tropical medicine in Hamburg.
While he was there, he was working on injection remedies for malaria and different methods of staining malarial parasites. For his contribution in that field, Red Cross Order of Merit by the Queen of England in 1931.
It was in the same year that Dr. Simeons moved to India, where he resided for nearly 18 years. While he was there, he continued to practice medicine, but observed something rather remarkable. He found that undernourished women who resided in India who almost had nothing to eat were still managing to give birth to healthy babies. He found that while these mothers might have been underweight and undernourished, their bodies were producing large amounts of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). This hCG was breaking down the fat reserves in the mother and supplying it to the child, resulting in a healthy, normal weight baby. This prompted him to study this aspect of weight management in a lot more detail. He continued his work in India till 1949, when he moved to Rome, Italy.
There he published 'Pounds and Inches: A New Approach to Obesity' in 1954. His theory about fat breakdown riches different periods of starvation, but after around 3 months the fats that are in the body break down and nutrients and energy. He also discovered that the secondary fat could be the reason for weight gain since they are not naturally raised in the body. He did a great research on that during the years and when his writing was published the people were really interested in his theory. But what is most important, the practice brought him to great results.
As Dr. Simeons continued with his research, he published a report in which he expressed surprise at how a diet low in calories combined with hCG resulted in a noticeable weight-loss that reshaped the body, and sometimes recognized in subjects who were not given to exercising. The treatment was devoid of side-effects such as headaches, irritability, hunger pangs or weakness. So, Dr. Simeons concluded that it was the fat reserves that were broken down and helped subjects to slim down.
Organizing his findings together in a record, he created a famous weight-loss program which has gripped the market today. The program has been used by thousands, and the results have been positive. What started as an observation project led to the most effective weight-loss and maintenance program of the twenty-first century.
