What Makes A Quality Green Coffee Extract?

By Carrie Whalley

The rate of obesity has indeed increased at an all-time high nowadays and it is not really surprising why many people continue to search for a magic pill that will solve their weight problems. With so many products related to weight-loss, among the most talked-about today is green coffee. You might ask, why should I buy green coffee extract? If you're a big fan of Dr. Oz, you may already have the answer to this.

While there is some truth behind caffeine's weight-loss capabilities, the real powerhouse responsible for shedding those extra pounds is the antioxidant known as chlorogenic acid. Also known as green coffee antioxidant (GCA), chlorogenic acid can effectively reduce the body's absorption of glucose and fat, thereby promoting weight loss. It is also able to give you a feeling of fullness longer and more stable energy levels.

Green coffee beans are not really a new breed of coffee but are simply coffee beans that did not undergo roasting. When unroasted, the beans have the highest level of fat-busting chlorogenic acid. According to the independent study by Dr. Oz on several individuals, there was an average of 2 pounds lost per week after taking supplements made from green coffee extract.

One thing that you must consider when you want to buy green coffee extract is the amount of chlorogenic acid it contains. After conducting some experiments on 100 women, Dr. Oz has made recommendations of at least 45% chlorogenic acid. Despite this, the doctor did not want to endorse any particular product since he didn't want to be associated with any company.

You must also carefully check the labeling before you buy green coffee extract. There must be a listing of ingredients used in the manufacturing of the product and there must not be any trace of fillers, additives, or artificial preservatives. Keep in mind that there are some manufacturers claiming that their product is made from pure green coffee even though it's not. It is still best to purchase reputable brands.

The minimum dosage for each capsule of green coffee extract should be 400mg. It is also not unusual to come across products that provide as much as 800mg per serving. The ideal time for taking this supplement is 30 minutes before your main meals. It is also important to remember that you should drink plenty of water throughout the day as this also helps significantly in the weight-loss process.

In case you are pregnant or a breast-feeding mother, you should not buy green coffee extract since no research has been conducted that will verify its safety. Those below 18 years of age are also advised against taking it. If you really want to minimize the risk on your part, always make it a point to consult your doctor before trying any type of supplements.

While you can always buy green coffee extract for weight loss, it would not be good to just rely on it alone to achieve the weight you wanted. If you want to lose weight the healthy way and keep it off, you must use the supplement together with a balanced diet and proper exercise. Having a diet rich in whole foods such as fruits and vegetables plus regular cardiovascular exercise will help promote optimum results.
